Samuel B. Thielman, MD, PhD
Dr. Thielman went to medical school at Duke University School of Medicine and did his psychiatry and fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center. He is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Before returning to North Carolina, he was a senior psychiatrist at the U. S. Department of State where he served as Director of Mental Health Services. Dr. Thielman has expertise in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and problems related to complex work and personal situations. He works closely with the physicians here at BMA, but he is also available to see appropriate patients who are not otherwise a part of BMA as well. He is licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina and Virginia and a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He joined BMA in 2018.
